There are twelve buttons on the vending machine outside Corridor C. Eleven correspond to snacks. The twelfth is labeled YESTERDAY. Nobody we spoke with remembers seeing it installed, and everybody remembers being told not to press it.

A contractor noticed the button while trying to buy pretzels. It cost $1.25. This is the first troubling detail: access to the past should not be cheaper than peanut M&Ms.

A security officer arrived and placed an OUT OF ORDER sign over the machine. The sign fell off. The button remained illuminated.

Someone pressed it.
“The hallway flickered. My coffee was full again. Then my phone showed three missed calls I had not received yet.” The witness requested anonymity and another coffee.
